So it's 8:58 AM, and I'm up and wide awake.
Well, sorta wide awake. I'm cognizant -- it is Sunday morning after all. devianttouch and wendybyrd are being married in about an hour, and at some point here, Ellen's supposed to show up so we can drive there together.
Yesterday was uneventful, but it was the good kind of uneventful. I went to my parents' house, and just missed my mom's "friend" Sally who was leaving as I pulled up. Sally is... well, she's crazy. Really crazy. For most of my life she's been a pretty sane person, but when her mother's health took a turn for the worse, she had to sell the farm they shared, and the changes are causing her to fall apart. These days she likes to stop by my parents' house "for a few minutes," completely unannounced and stays for hours. Impromptu visits like this wouldn't be a big deal if she were oh, say, a few blocks away, but the drive between her apartment and Stoughton is roughly 45 minutes. She has all sorts of health problems (some real, some imagined) and nobody to look after her except for (apparently) my mom and her sister, whose guidance for Sally comes more from "what would the neighbors think?" than "what would be best for my sister?"
Anyway, I only ended up saying goodbye to Sally as she left the house in the pouring rain. After the rain stopped, I helped my dad to ascertain that the mower is indeed broken, and watched Beginning of The End. All you need to know about this movie is that it's about giant grasshoppers. The special effects were actually really good, given what kind of budget they had (and the fact that the movie is from 1957). Also watched The Beast from 20,000 Fantoms, which is The Movie Where The Dinosaur Walks Stomps Around New York. Special effects by Ray Harryhausen, whose work I rather like.
Later on Ellen came over, I made soup, and that was about it. It was a quiet night, but it was the good kind of quiet.
My mood icon has a cup of coffee. I wish I had a cup of coffee right now.
