Nothing glorious to report today, except that I'm gonna try to update my LiveJournal more frequently.

Anyway, last night after making that post, I watched Ed Wood's immortal classic Bride of the Monster... I enjoyed it immensely, but movies of this type always remind me of a conversation from the old Lucasarts game Sam and Max Hit The Road:

Sam: I remember seeing this movie in theatres when I was a pup. During the climactic scene they dropped giant rubber snakes on the audience. Why don't they make movies like that any more?
Max: Higher standards?
Sam: Probably.

And hey, speaking of Sam and Max, you oughta head on over to Lucasarts and have a look at the sequel. It's looking pretty good; frankly, I was really worried that Sam and Max in 3D would suck. It's not as bad as I feared, though I'd love to see it in 2D. LEC should have learned from their mistake on Escape from Monkey Island. Curse of Monkey Island looked *perfect* in 2D, and the jump to 3D just looked... weird... Um, anyway, I'd post a direct link, but I'm at work right now, and though I've gotten plenty done, I've spent a lot of time on the Internet. It seems that every time I think I should cut back on my Internet use, they send out an e-mail saying "the Internet is available to employees for research purposes only blah blah blah blah blah fire your ass quicker than you can send an e-card." Actually, I'm pretty sure that's an exact quote, with the "blahs" and everything. I'm pretty sure they even used the word "quicker."

I was also going to post a link to an essay about the death of good "bad" movies by John Debello, director of the fantastic Killer Tomatoes films, but they seem to have taken it off the site. If I find it, I'll post it later tonight. I'll probably post the Sam and Max link, too.

But hey, speaking of work, I'm finally getting caught up after all my time off. Oh, I didn't mention that I took a whole bunch o' time off from work? Well, I did. I went camping, got my haircut, and sat through Johnny Mnemonic because you don't watch Johnny Mnemonic. You sit through it.

Anyway, the moment I get done here at work, I'm zipping downtown to attend a concert with Ribsin Bacon. We're seeing -- I don't recall who we're seeing. One of the members of the band is a friend of a friend of his, and I've never heard of them. Now, in the unlikely event that Ribs reads this, posts a response telling me the name of the band, and then the band members accidentally stumble onto my Livejournal, see their name, see that I've forgotten it, and then come to kick my ass, I'd like to point out that I've spent most of my life completely oblivious to the local heavy metal community. As a matter of fact, I've really been devoting most of my time to the local robot monkey community. I know, you wouldn't think there'd be a community for that, much less in Madison, Wisconsin, but there you go.
