While I'm watching Twin Peaks I've decided to take this quiz. The results are a little disturbing:

The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Seventh Level of Hell!
Here is how you matched up against all the levels:
LevelScore
Purgatory (Repenting Believers)Low
Level 1 - Limbo (Virtuous Non-Believers)Very Low
Level 2 (Lustful)Very High
Level 3 (Gluttonous)Moderate
Level 4 (Prodigal and Avaricious)Very Low
Level 5 (Wrathful and Gloomy)High
Level 6 - The City of Dis (Heretics)Very Low
Level 7 (Violent)Extreme
Level 8- the Malebolge (Fraudulent, Malicious, Panderers)High
Level 9 - Cocytus (Treacherous)Low

Take the Dante's Inferno Test

Buh--- muh-- wh-- Extremely violent? Moi? Is there something I don't know about me? Anyway, if anyone cares, you can see Gustav Dore's gorgeous illustrations for The Divine Comedy here.

Well I just plain don't understand my rating. I took the test a couple of times, and both times I answered (honestly) all of the questions pertaining (at least directly) to violence with the more non-violent response. I didn't agree that some people simply deserve to die, nor that I would assassinate someone for gain... I don't see how I fit into The Seventh Level.

...now the Ninth Circle I can understand... The last house we lived in was affectionately nicknamed The Pit by those who lived there, and when it came time to move out, we were looking for a name for the current house. I suggested The Ninth Circle, which I happen to like, but the house is quite a bit nicer than that, so nobody else uses that term.

Ok, so the seventh circle is really three different things. First, you have the violent souls in a river of boiling blood. Second, you have the wood of the suicides and people who, for lack of a better phrase, commited financial suicide. Last, you have a barren desert plain of raining fire filled with sodomites, blasphamers and usurers (people who make money from money, like bankers living off of the interest from loans). So, maybe you're in the seventh circle for a different reason. After all, alot of things can be considered sodomy (though, the way Dante detailed the sodomites, he only seemed to consider gay men to be offenders).

I'm really glad I took the Divine Comedy in translation as a class last semester. It was nice to have a laid-back class for once.

I'm also kind of confused about the rating system. I've taken this before, and I was in the seventh circle. I just took it a couple minutes ago and now I'm in the sixth. Since the greater sin is usually the one that's punished, this would make sense, except for the fact that I'm more of a sodomite than a heretic.

I took that once, but I only made it to level 6. I am an inferior sinner. Woe!

Well if you're looking to (ahem) improve your score, I'm sure there are many folks around here willing to push you down the road to perdition.

Ribs, there is no secret to the sex boots. With Hal's coming of age, she should be allowed proper access to them.

And in case I haven't said it before: Mmmmmm. Sex boots.
