11:12 pm - I'm eating Limited Edition Grapes!
I'm eating some grapes which were given to me last night by somebody who went grocercy shopping at the same time as her husband. When they got home, they pooled their purchases and discovered that they had too many grapes. They gave some to me.

They are * Limited Edition * edition grapes. They're almost gone.

The black ones are all gone, but there are a couplea green ones, and some red ones left.

What makes them * Limited Edition *? It's the packaging, I guess. It's rigid plastic instead of one of those silly, flimsy bags, and it has the words "* Limited Edition *" printed in cursive and with little stars and sparkles. Under that it says "Raisins magiques sans des graines," and for some reason there's a picture of a horse. Otherwise they look like plain ol' grapes. Taste like 'em, too. They're seedless and delicious... just like grapes I could've purchased for a couple of bucks less.

This reminds me of the episode of Penn & Teller's Malarkey! where they had their microwave-challenged prop designer whip up some very pretty but very cheap "gourmet cuisine," and convinced unsuspecting diners that they were eating a five-star meal. Of course, unlike those poor saps, I started out skeptical. To me, these * Limited Edition * grapes taste just like any other grapes. I've had better and I've had worse, but the standard supermarket varieties are so similar in taste and quality that it's hardly worth even shopping around, let alone finding the * Limited Edition * variety.

Whatever. They were free.

Anyway, the phrase "* Limited Edition *" suggests to me that they're collectible, but I'm having a hard time finding any unique markings on the packaging. For that matter, how am I supposed to preserve them? Is someone marketing a Grape Album for storing your collectible grapes?

Wait a sec, why come I get the * Limited Edition * ones? Man, the grapes my friends kept must have been really something.

I loved that one! But there is something to be said for packaging. I mean the art is really what makes everything different, right? Like cigerettes are still just tabacco rolled in paper, but people collect those holders.

I loved that one too. I'd really like to see more of that show.
