I used to post a lot of fortunes from fortune cookies here, but it's been awhile. Chinese food fell temporarily out of favor with several of my coworkers, and I've been packing lunches. Today it's cold and snowy though, and that brings out the wimp in people. They broke down and ordered Chinese. At some point this afternoon I need to take an actual, genuine lunchbreak so I can go to the bank, but presently I'm eating steamed broccoli (mixed with far less healthy things) and remembering that I generally prefer Imperial Garden to Chang Jiang.
This is the fortune which came with my cookie:
Ladies and gentlemen, I don't make this stuff up. Karma, apparently, is telling me that if I don't own a home soon, my life is gonna suck.
Or something like that.

Be thankful it wasn't blank.
Yeah, what she said.
Of course, it could have said something like "Most Windy Days Blow"...that would have been a good one.
Yeah, but see, that one's actually funny
. I got one once that said "Ugly people don't get fortunes" (picture here
) which must
have been out of a box of gag fortunes. Of course, it'd be funnier if it wasn't.
Why, did that happen to you?
No, but I've been fearing it since I heard about it happening to someone else.

Or it could be telling you that living up to the terms of your lease is failure. So, um...take a sledghammer to those walls?
...I like your interpretation, but I just don't see how making holes in our walls and getting kicked out of the house constitutes a good idea. I hate to say it, but I think that cookie might have been talking out of it's ass.
I'd say getting a blank one would be comforting. It means your future is not predetermined and you can make what you want of it.
I don't think I'd be too worried if I got a blank fortune. Then again, I look at fortune cookies the same way as I look at horoscopes: I don't think for a second that I should consult a cookie or the alignment of the planets for advice pertaining specifically to my life, but the act of following the advice makes you tailor it to your situation. You end up noticing details and patterns and things about yourself which you might otherwise ignore.
Not that any of this matters because I usually just throw 'em away.
