"Mom, why'd you white out part of my card?"

One of my boss' sons is sick today, so we all signed a card for him. We've never done that before, and I think it's sort of an indirect apology for the fact that when my boss left early on Monday afternoon to pick him up from school, we all made jokes about her having a job interview. Come on, though. She left early with a smile on her face. What would you have thought? Anyway, I wrote something about faking it to get an extra day off from school.

I suppose I should mention so that you have time to shuffle your schedule around that offBeat will be performing tomorrow night (Thursday) at the Mill Street Inn and Pub in Cambridge. Seven o'clock. We've just added two new songs, so come out and hear me screw up my lead on The Monster Mash.
