07:41 pm - offBeat @ Hilldale, November 25th, 2 PM
Hey! You're not doing anything this Sunday afternoon, are you? Course not! That's why you should hop on over to main stage in front of Macy's at Hilldale Mall for a "holiday"* show by offBeat acappella. 2:00 until 3:30ish. Bouilla.

* Possibly Winter Wonderland.

I'm working starting at exactly 2pm, or I might try to stop by on my break. I'm over at the Whole, down the street.

I'm at work right now and may or may not be done by then. I'll see if I can't find you, though. What part of the new mall will you be in?

We'll be in front of Macy's. Apparently there's a stage, and it shouldn't be hard to miss.

And bring mittens. Unless it's just inside the doors, it's going to be cold.

Any good? How does it compare to the source material?

It's good & fairly well done & faithful to the poem up until when Beowulf meets Grendel's mother where the story goes completely out the window. There's even an obvious sequel tease which is utterly painful.

That's a little disappointing, but I'm still curious, and I'm sure I'll see it when it comes out on DVD and somebody else (Matt, Keith, Caleb...) gets around to buying it.

On a different-but-related note, there's a novel from the early '70s called Grendel by John Gardner which tells the story from the monster's point of view. It's still in print because it's a pretty good adaptation, and it's pretty easy to find used copies, if you're interested.
