10:27 pm - Booya! B-Fest!
We got our tickets to B-Fest!

I'm pretty thrilled about that, since last year we got on a waiting list immediately and didn't get tickets until very shortly before the festival. Somehow our big group got tickets damn near instantly this year, which is a load off everybody's minds. Of course, now we need to think about hotel accommodations and transportation, but we've got some time. Just a few more weeks, and I'll be able to sit uncomfortably through 24 hours of B-movies and cult classics. I can't wait!

The lineup this year is fantastic:
Brain That Wouldn't Die
The Beastmaster
Revenge of the Creature in 3-D
The Wizard of Speed and Time (Short version)
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Savage Sisters
Invasion of the Star Creatures
Street Trash
The Hypnotic Eye
Krull
Tarantula
Hot Rods to Hell
Invasion, U.S.A.
The Incredible Melting Man
King Kong vs. Godzilla

Can you tell I'm excited? I'm excited.

Y'know, I've never seen any of those movies, so I can't tell you which Beastmaster you're thinking of, but I'm still excited.

Actually, I'm lying. I've seen bits of Krull, but was steered away from it by the girl who was played Columbia until 2003 (or so). Her last name is Krull, and she's about 10 years older than I am. That movie ruined her life for a few months when it was new.

And actually, one of my earliest memories was watching The Beastmaster on TV in the early '80s, but that must have been its first TV broadcast, and I really only remember the title.

Krull is possibly the greatest campy sci-fi/fantasy movie I have ever seen. The bad guys have lasers and Stormtrooper armor, and the good guys have togas and swords.

This is one of the most impressive line-ups I've seen since I started going to B-Fest (this is year #5 for me). There are so many movies I've either seen or want to see. "Beastmaster"...love it but haven't seen it in years. "Street Trash" looks delightfully disgusting. "Invasion USA" is the reason Chuck Norris never cries.

I simply don't see any reason to want to try and sleep this year as I'm stoked about almost every movie! No pain this year...just pure enjoyment. I can deal with that ^_~

Yeah, I was thinking that myself. I can handle being awake for 24 hours, but I'm going hit the 24-hour mark on Saturday morning... If I can't plan to sleep through something lousy, I'm going to fall asleep during something good... And I'm going to regret it.

Sorry I didn't make a decision more quickly. I probably can't afford to go anyway.

Ehh, it's fine. Do you really want to sit through 24 hours of B-movies in uncomfortable campus theater seats? If you're unsure (and I was when I first heard about B-Fest) it might be more worthwhile just to let everybody else go and hear their reviews afterward. There'll be a lot of back pain involved.

Oh, cool. Than neither of you should read the comments, but you might appreciate the comment Matt left:

I've ommitted a couple of sentences here to keep the movies a secret.

Sounds very promising.

Let me know if you guys have a hotel in mind. I'd like to make payment/reservation/room sharing plans as early as possible.

Understandable. I'll keep you posted -- I'm sure these guys are thinking the same thing.

I made the call at 10:30:05, by the Weather Channel, and got through on the first try. I suspect I may actually have been first in line.

I know a number of other B-Fest regulars (the guy who makes the CDs and his group) stay at a Best Western a few blocks away; that's where I'd figured we'd end up too. There aren't a lot of hotels in the immediate area.

Hmmm... I wonder if last year's lackluster lineup made tickets easier to come by this year... I doubt it, though.

As for accomodations, I assume we'll be reserving rooms in advance. Were you thinking we'd all fend for ourselves, or that we'd figure out our needs and one person would make the reservations for the group?

I hear there were still tickets available at noon today.

I figured one person would make the reservations. If Nick and Liz don't mind sharing we should only need two rooms. I think we can all be trusted not to molest anyone in the night, and we'll probably be so tired we'll just crash anyway.

But can we trust them not to molest anyone during the night? After all, they are on the Rocky Horror cast.

All right! Sorry this has been so long in coming, but I do have a response from Nick and Liz. They're perfectly happy to share a room with people.

We'll know how early you called when we pick up the tickets. If they're numbered 001-008 you'll be getting further praise ^_^
