12:14 am - Somewhat embarrassing.
Y'know, I hate Elmo as much as anybody who's not five, but I really want the Tenth Anniversary version:

I can just imagine the possibilities of Limited Edition Warcraft II Commemorative Plush Orcs: "What?" "What?!" "Stop poking me!"*

* For those who didn't get that joke, this one might be more accessible:
What I'd really like to see is features like these on a cuddly, plush Cthulhu doll. Minus the laughing, of course.
If that punchline didn't work for you either, here's another one:
So the priest says, "Hey, let's screw that kid!"
And the rabbi says, "Out of what?"
Still not amused? Try this:
Poop.

a $40 toy that does one thing

I believe that's called the Tickle-Me-Elmo: Extreme version. [shudder]

"Again! Again!" I've heard that before...

I remember when the original TME was finally in stock at (store's name omitted.) As annoying as those things were it was still fun to walk down the plush toys aisle & poke every one of them things in the belly.

shimatta1 is already working on the Cthulhu version for me.

I dunno, I'm really amused by how the responses get progressively more ridiculous as you tickle him more. I'm not sure how I'd make that work for Cthulhu. Perhaps if you tickle him too often, you get eaten.

You're absolutely right!

Now if Elmo said "Not the mama" I might actually consider getting one.

I have two thoughts

1) What a nice little piece of engineering. the mechanics are impressive.

2) Is elmo jerking off when you 1st touch his belly?! It's ummmm... Jerk me off elmo?

I would have to say the Only reason I played Warcraft II was to keep clicking on the Orcs, just to hear them get annoyed at you.

Colin you're so possitively awesome it hurts sometimes.

Also I had one of the original TME.....I loved it then cuz well I was sorta in the right age group. So this new one could totally kick mine's ass.

In the better light of things, at least they're not making new and improved Furby's. *shudder*

I pulled the batteries out of mine and it completed saying "I love you".

THE BATTERIES WERE OUT OF THE DAMN THING AND IT TALKED.

It was promptly banished to my closet.

Poop!

::falls over with laughter::

(Actually, I didn't play Warcraft II, but I think orc NPCs in WoW must do that, too, because it seems very familiar)

In the three original Warcraft games, clicking on a character to select it would always elicit a response. The first one was always "Yes?" or "Sire?" or (in the case of the orcs) "What?" If you clicked more than once, the responses would get more and more annoyed.

In Warcraft II (and III, I assume) you could record your own customized dialogue, which is a funnier idea in theory than it is in practice.
