11:31 pm - Last week's Jeans Day e-mail

And the bottom of the message:

Director's commentary: This has gotten both the best response of any e-mail I've ever sent out, as well as the largest number of "whathuh?"s. Apparently there are people my own age who haven't seen The Princess Bride. I always knew that was true, but I guess I was under the impression that they all lived in like, Somalia. Most of the responses were complimentary, though, which just goes to prove that you can sell almost anything through '80s nostalgia.

Maybe next I'll do one with Pee-Wee Herman and George Michael. Caption will be something like "Pants. It's not just a good idea, it's the law."

Maybe I can fit Hugh Grant and Rob Lowe in there, too.

There's a thing? I guess that means I can't convince anyone to come down to Chicago that night for Rocky.

To quote the Orpheum Mailing List:

The next movie on the agenda is David Cronenberg's first feature SHIVERS /THEY CAME FROM WITHIN/ BLOOD ORGY OF THE PARASITES/ THE PARASITE MURDERS. 35mm. The album drops June 30th at midnight and July 1st at 9pm. $5. Orpheum Stagedoor 121 E. Johnson. Lots of trailers so you can sit and be bored off your ass till the movie starts. SHIVERS is about this piece of shit looking parasite that crawls up your ass and then makes you want to kill people/ have weird 70s orgies. some of the greatest paranoid sexual metaphors freud cliff notes dealing with sexual disease body horror and gross out humor this side of some 80s VIDEODROME bullshit. More info coming soon.

Much as I'd like to, I don't think I should. I know I committed to going to Rocky Horror, but that was before I knew that I'd have $50.03 in my checking account for the next couplea days.

Sadly, I fear it will be even more confusing... which is why it's such a great idea!

Much as I'd like to, I'm pretty sure it's not allowed. People would be offended. Pfft.

Because people at this company like to remove their pants in public stalls and visit dirty cinemas?

Maybe I can fit Hugh Grant and Rob Lowe in there, too.

I would suggest David Bowie and/or David Lee Roth.

(Sorry, 80s pants memories ...)

Only tertiarily related, but I've always wondered if enough people would recognize Invader Zim for one of these things.

I'm guessing not, sadly.

I like that idea, & if done well enough you may not even need it to be recognized for a success. However, most of the characters are drawn so scrawny I can't tell if they're wearing jeans already.
