|12:36 am - Meh (and then some).|
I was feeling pretty lousy and thought it would be a good idea to stay home tonight and ignore my phone calls.
So I did. It was entirely the right choice, but now I'm in an even worse mood because I've done nothing with my evening. I didn't watch any of the DVDs I'm borrowing from people. I didn't read.
All I did manage to get done was this short piece of music. I can't even think of a name for it. It's just under a megabyte in size. Can you please download it and validate my effort? You don't even have to pretend you like it. I just want to be able to find a spike in my bandwidth stats in the morning so that I can feel like my Saturday night wasn't a waste.
I'm going to bed.

To each his own, I guess. I needed to go to bed, and a good night's sleep helped my mood a lot.

That song makes me think of a Winter/Christmas wedding.
I didn't agree with you when I read this comment this morning, but after another listen, yeah, it does.

It might have started with the fact that it was snowing when I listened and it reminded me of that dreamlike winter setting. Then there was the renaissance-celebration type sound that reminded me of a wedding.
I meant to add this comment yesterday ;)

I really like it. But then, I like most of your music so I don't know how objective that sounds.
There are a lot of little short tunes in there that are really nice and brought together into a strong whole by the strings. The only drawback is the violin voice which I've rarely if ever heard reproduced adequately.
I think your time was well spent, even if we didn't get to harass you in person last nite.
You know, I was very seriously considering calling you to see if you were busy, but I decided against it after somebody else called me and I felt more comfortable ignoring it than taking the call. Believe me, it was better that I stayed home last night. I got more sleep than I would have had I gone out, and now I feel fine.
Glad you like the MP3. A note about the violin sound -- these are currently my favorite strings samples and are the most realistic I've found (I'm not being defensive, I'm just lamenting a little). The violin might sound a little weird because it's actually the viola sample, which is meant to play slightly lower notes. I used it because the violin sounded harsh and didn't blend as well as the viola.
For some reason, it reminds me of a processional of some sort...not necessarily military but...more...well...not quite regal but something along those lines. I don't know.
I like it. It's cute :)
I guess I know what you mean. Thanks for checking it out!
The piece is very Final Fantasy IX-ish. Most of the music for that game is primarily synth strings, with a very similar "airy" feel to it. I liked it.
Ah, nertz. Sorry I couldn't help with that spike.
If it helps any, I rather like how the viola sampling turned out as violins. And is it just me, or do pizz. samples always sound good? Maybe percussive sounds are just easier to replicate.
Also, I seem to have misplaced the URL for that Jones download site. I'll try scanning your older posts for it.
Thanks for posting that link -- I'd have done it if I'd gotten your comment soon enough.
I guess you're right about pizzicato samples. I have a definite favorite, but all of the ones I have sound perfect within the context of the soundfont they came with. I've never really thought about it before.
