I'm sorry, that subject has nothing to do with this entry.

Pretty good day all in all, mostly because I got a letter from my car insurance company saying that my bureaucracy coverage has gotten less expensive. Apparerently this is what happens when you hit the quarter century mark. Needless to say, I'm pretty thrilled, so I'm celebrating by seeing The Merry Wives of Windsor at APT tomorrow, going to a bachelor party on Saturday, and then Noah's Ark on Tuesday. Okay, those things were planned anyway, but I'm in a celebratory mood. I even watched a third of Batman Returns with Sean and Moofasa. I'll give you one guess as to which one of these two made that a difficult feat, but it doesn't count unless you guess Moofasa.

On a different topic, I see that the AFI has listed their top 100 movie quotes. Good choices. Nowhere marginally close to my own personal list, but then again, the AFI chooses quotes from movies that are brilliant and beloved. Mine would come from movies that are obtuse and tolerated. I've never compiled such a list, but glancing over the films I own I think I could come up with a list of the First Quote I Can Think of From Each of the First Ten DVDs On My Shelf. Here goes:

  1. I'm all out of American currency. Here, take a fistful of Romanian fifties. -- Brain Donors

  2. That's a big chicken. -- Sleeper

  3. My mother was a hardware man. -- Ed and His Dead Mother

  4. So this affair you're not having - is it not with a man, or not with a woman? -- Shallow Grave

  5. Don't give me any of that intelligent life crap, just give me something I can blow up. -- Dark Star

  6. Our crusade was such madness that only a real idealist could have thought it up. -- The Seventh Seal

  7. That would be one theory... If that technology existed outside of comic books and rap music. -- Heat Vision & Jack

  8. I lost it all -- faith, dignity, about 15 pounds... -- High Fidelity

  9. Technically sir, tomatoes are fags. -- Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

  10. She's French, and therefore a direct descendant of God! -- Forbidden Zone
I didn't say any of them were good quotes.

Anyway, if by chance you're still reading, I think you should check out this Open Letter to the Kansas City School Board which suggests that the Flying Spaghetti Monster theory of creation be taught in public schools, and goes on to point out the corellation between global warming and the number of pirates worldwide. Fascinating stuff.

Hey, that's pretty neat. Are you definitely on board, or is this a "they say I'm going but I'm not really sure" kind of thing?

I'm not sure yet. Tom stopped by today and I talked to him about it. I'm not sure I can afford it first of all...and then there's the part about me being the only girl. Hmmmm....and I was thinking of going to Iowa for a few days to see the surrogate family and....well, I don't know yet.

Ah, people like us are few and far between, but people like me are even rarer. I have purchased Brain Donors twice -- once as a used VHS tape, and more recently on DVD.

I'm not a proud man.

Nope. It was, however, the best homage (or downright theft) to the Marx Brothers since Bugs Bunny.

And who would have ever thought that John Tuturro could be funny?
