11:14 am - 187 movies I've seen.
Take this list and post it into your own LJ, and bold the movies you’ve seen. Add five more movies to the end of the list. Count how many movies you have seen. If you’ve seen more than 70 movies, you are a “movie whore”. Post the score of how many movies you’ve seen in the subject line. Use a LJ-cut since you’ve got at least one LJ-friend who doesn’t really want to see an ungodly number of movies snaking its way down the computer monitor.

Grumpy commentary: This list represents a really good sampling of both the best and worst of the movies I've seen. Unfortunately, that's all it does. It doesn't say that I watched The Cell under protest, or that I thought Double Indemnity was so much better than She's All That. Although I've seen Rigoletto, IMDB lists 13 films with that title, and I know they're not talking about the made-for-TV movie I'm thinking of. Similarly, I've seen Lon Cheney as The Phantom of the Opera, but not Gerard Butler. Are they talking about the remake of Psycho, or the original? Which version of Little Shop of Horrors? Ride with the Devil? 13 Ghosts?

Back Door Sluts 6, 14, 37 and 82, Back Door Sluts Strike Back, and Back Door Sluts: With a Vengeance are all basically the same movie. Iif I've seen all of those (hypothetically, of course (no, really)), can I say I've seen Back Door Sluts 9?

I'm also not counting a lot of movies that I've only sort of kind of seen. I tried seven times to watch Spirited Away before I figured out that it just doesn't hold my attention. I had a similar experience with Taxi Driver. I've probably seen Full Metal Jacket and American Pie in their entirety, but never in a single sitting so I'm not sure. I'd be willing to watch Full Metal Jacket just to verify. American Pie, not so much. I saw Grease in several segments over several years too, and though I'm not absolutely positive that I've seen the whole film, I'm sure at least that I've seen all it has to offer me.

Also worth pointing out, #254 originally read:
254. Romeo and Juliet The Franko Zefineli version, not the Leo de CRAP-OH version
Somebody probably felt terribly clever when they wrote that, but it needs to be punctuated differently so that I can tell where the movie's name ends. Additionally, the director's name is Franco Zeffirelli, and if you're going to make fun of Leonardo DiCaprio's name, my coworkers agree with me that "Leonardo DiCrappio" sounds better and is funnier than "Leo de CRAP-OH," not that it's actually funny.

Finally, I'm a "movie whore" per the paragraph at the top of this post, which makes me wonder whether or not the person who wrote it knows what a whore is. I don't recall ever having been paid to watch a movie.

All right. I'm done. I think I must be having a bad morning.

Oh, that's nothing. I can hardly type the title of that movie without whistling the theme song, which makes my coworkers look at me funny.

If at some point you would like to watch Full Metal Jacket all at once, let me know. Somehow, Nick is a Kubrick fan but has never seen Full Metal Jacket. That strikes me as some sort of crime.

Absolutely I'm interested. One of my roommates might even have a copy. We could get together and watch it.
